The Push Pull of Relationships

Relationships are such a challenge for life tends to pull us in many directions at the same time. To master these challenges one needs to understand self. It’s surprising how many of us go through life without ever recognizing that our feelings toward other people are largely determined by our feelings toward ourselves, and if you’re not comfortable within yourself, you can’t be comfortable with others.

Often the purpose of relationships is not just about happiness, but transformation too. Our personality feels the need to be unique and special and so our focus lies on how we are different from others. Differences hold the potential to create conflict rather than allowing, understanding and respect.

At the same time, our souls live through connection with others. Daily we are challenged to rise above our personal preferences to discover how we and the other are the same and yet different in our uniqueness.  Our overall need lies in balancing these two tendencies.

Hi Kate just popped in to say hi and as i usually am was pulled into deep thoughts about your space entry. Relationships, where would we be without them. Even a hermit has one, even if it’s only with him/herself 🙂
easy how we can forget the one with our soul though…

Hey Kate.Thank you very much for passing by and leaving your constructive comment, you’re absoloutely right, if water was sensibly brought inland and properly cleaned it would help with the rising sea levels and turn dry barren land into rich fertile, food producing & life giving soil…Now why hasn’t that been done??? ehmmm. As for this post it’s both insightful and thought provoking, it’s true that no man is an island, we all have to relate on some level and those who relate best to others are those who are the happiest with themselves. You have a lovely space :)Much Love,Phil.

    Hi Kate,

Indeed relationship is what we all need as humans, keeping loneliness / solitude away. We meet people everyday, but we cannot always say that we enjoy good relationship.  Too many are more acquaintances than friends !

Keep well and keep enriching us, your Readers.

    Take care,
    Love,

Hi Kate:  It’s so nice to meet you.  Thank you for coming by my space.  You are so right about relationships.  I find that I’m at ease when I meet new people.  I have no trouble carrying on conversations, whether the person is 8 or 80 makes no difference.  Even though I’m just 56 years old; I joined a Senior’s Center.  I find the people I’ve met there fascinating.  They have such wonderful stories to tell.  What I like the most is that they’re all retired and not in a hurry with their lives like young people are these days; so they have the time to sit and "chew the fat" with you.
I see you are a nature lover.  I am too.  So, you and I would tend to notice more the differences in Mother Nature.  She can be very powerful when angry and she’s angry at the whole world right now.
Again…thank you for coming by and I hope you’ll feel free to stop by again.
    Blessings…Diane.
P.S.  The pictures of your place are beautiful.  Makes me want to climb into the picture and relax for awhile…lol.
