Christmas presents – why do we give them?

Here is a brief explanation of the meaning and origins of many age old customs that we repeat annually without perhaps knowing why.

The remote origin of “Christmas Presents” can be traced as far back as the new Stone Age ten thousand years ago and the story goes like this……

Hand in hand with innovation of agriculture came food surplus which made it possible to create food stores, the latter to see people through the cold months of winter.

When the midpoint of winter was reached the people would celebrate that the worst was over and they would do this by organizing a feast. Each farmer had his own specialty, so in order to make the feast as varied as possible, a food exchange was arranged, this exchange was the original midwinter gift swapping custom. Everything else that developed later was centred on the practice and meaning of this festivity. Over the centuries the range of gifts has increased to include things other than food.

Origins of the Christmas tree

An origin of the Christmas tree can be traced to the paradise play, which in medieval times was performed each year on the 24 December. The play depicted the fall of Adam & Eve in the Garden of Eden and required an apple tree as part of the story.

However, since it was winter an evergreen tree would be substituted as an alternative to the apple tree. The evergreen replacement would be decorated with apples. In this day and age apple-like baubles are used as decoration and hung on Christmas trees together with other paraphernalia.

Why do we decorate trees?

Back in the dark ages when people believed in tree spirits, they decorated trees each winter. When trees shed their leaves in autumn, it was felt that the tree spirits had abandoned them. Back in the dark ages when people believed in tree spirits, they decorated trees each winter, to encourage the leaves to return to the trees. Decorations of painted stones and cultured cloth were attached to the trees in midwinter; the idea being that it would make the trees so appealing that the tree spirits would be appeased and happily return the next year.

Centuries ago people in Europe started the custom of bringing a tree indoors at Christmas time. Indoors, the decorations became more elaborate. Fruit, gingerbreads, sweet meats and candies were hung on their branches. Prior to that the decorations were attached to the trees outside where they stood.

What is the origin of the Yule log?

Historically the Yule log formed an important part of Christmas and is to date still employ it as a decorative motive on Christmas cards or the Christmas table.

Traditionally the Yule log had to be kept burning throughout the Christmas festivities. Failure to do so would spell disaster for the year ahead.

For Christians the symbolism of the Yule log was that it represented the need to keep the stable warm for the infant Christ. The reason they chose the midwinter festival for this fine ceremony was that this particular celebration was originally designed to welcome back the sun; our other great source of heat.

The French were always very keen on the Yule log ceremony, but it became very difficult for city dwellers to keep up this custom. As a reminder of it, Parisian confectioners baked a carefully made replica of the log. This delicious chocolate cake, known as a Bûche de Noël, was covered in chocolate, grained to look like bark, with a lighter coffee colour chocolate at either end to give it the appearance of a chopped off log. So thanks to French bakers a small token version of the Yule log ritual continues in the baked version; and instead of burning the Yule log one gets to eat it.

Why do we have a Christmas cake?

The Christmas cake as we know it today actually began life as a twelfth night cake. When Queen Victoria banned twelfth night celebrations in the eighteen seventies, because they had become too boisterous, the cake was rescued by switching it from twelfth night to Christmas.

In one ritual the cake was presented in two halves. Inside one half there would be a hidden pea and in the other a hidden bean. Each guest was offered a slice of cake and the man and woman lucky enough to find the bean and the pea became the mock king and queen of festivities!

In France the cake was cut up into as many slices as there were guests present. Then the youngest boy in the house was put under the table, out of view of the cake, and then the head of the household would hold up the first slice and asked the child to name the person who should have it.

The child would give the first name that came into his head, regardless of status and that person then ate the slice. If there was no bean present the process would be repeated with the second slice and so on, until at last someone was lucky enough to find the bean and be named king.

Most of these traditions were lost when the cake was ‘transferred’ from twelfth night to Christmas, but they did not disappear altogether, but reappeared in a modified form in the Christmas pudding.

Why do we eat mince pies and why are they called minced pies?

In medieval times Christmas feasting involved the baking of a pie into which all manner of flesh and fowl was thrust. The meats were shredded and mixed together with fruits and spices. In the early days this was called simply the Christmas pie. As time passed they became bigger and bigger and cooks competed with one another to see who could create the most magnificent pie of all.

In 1770 one single Christmas pie was shipped from the north of England to London for a particular noble table. It apparently included the following ingredients; four geese, two turkeys, two rabbits, four wild ducks, two woodcocks, six snipes, four partridges, two ox tongues, two curlews, seven blackbirds and six pigeons. It was nine feet in circumference and weighed 168 pounds. Underneath it was fitted with four wheels to ease the problem of serving at the dinner table. I think you will agree this is a far cry from the modest mince pies on offer today.

In the 19th century the mincemeat was omitted from the pies, but somehow the name mince pie managed to survive the simplification, and is a name though no longer appropriate that we still use today. The newly cultivated mince pie was much sweeter and instead of it being offered at the beginning of the meal, it was presented the end.

A popular legend states that if you eat one mince pie on each of the 12 days of Christmas you will have good luck in the 12 months ahead. The caveat though is that it was necessary to eat each pie at a different home.

A less demanding superstition states simply that you are granted one wish when you take your first bite of your first mince pie each Christmas. Conversely if you refuse the first mince pie you are offered you will suffer misfortune.

Why do we have Christmas crackers?

The Christmas cracker can be traced as far back as 1840. It was an English invention and was influenced by French packaging and Chinese custom.

A London confectioner by the name of Tom Smith, when on holiday in Paris was duly impressed by the wrapped bon-bon’s on sale for the Christmas celebrations. It was something he had not seen before as in those days British sweets were sold unwrapped as opposed to the French whose sweets were closed in a paper with a twist at either; needless to say the French style appealed to his imagination.

The bon-bon was extremely successful, but Tom Smith wanted to add a little bit more fun to it. Influenced this time by the Chinese who were well known for celebrating with firecrackers at the end of each year, to scare away the evil spirits and improve the chances of good fortune the following year; the twisted bon-bon paper together with the influence of the Chinese firecracker and the innovativeness of Tom Smith would later give the cracker its distinctive shape, bang and placement at the Christmas table.

How Bizarre

Sometimes the world looks better upside down

Standing in the shade of one of the palm trees that grace my deck, looking out over the sea and letting my eye travel far out to where the sea and the sky meet, I suddenly thought; we don’t look up at the sky much during the day and promptly did so and was amazed at what I saw..

Looking up at the sky I was intrigued to see many star like objects moving across the sky from west to east, some hovering and then moving back in the direction they came. I was in awe and my neck was getting sore from the awkward upward gazing angle, so I lay flat on my back on the bench that I may continue to observe the strange occurrence high up above. I lay there quite enthralled and observed this strange movement of objects across the sky for some time.

What the objects were I do not know, but I would not mind seeing it all again.

Ancient Tactics

Imagine a bygone time where four Tribes shared a kingdom in tolerated but uncomfortable peace. Two were as powerful as each other and the two lesser tribes were unbalanced, one being stronger than the other, my tribe being the weakest.

If I wanted my tribe to attack yours, say because you had taken my water, but I couldn’t because other two tribes would call it an act of aggression and band up against me and defeat me. With my tribe wiped out, the remaining three would benefit and have more resources to share.

So how do I deal with the situation? My tribe is weak and in decline. It would only be a matter of time before something else was taken from us.

I would get a handful of my trusted men. Disguise them as the opposing tribe, weapons and all, then get them to attack my own tribe and sacrifice a few of the weakest and sick for the good of the whole. That’s right. I would attack myself then blame the other tribe, giving me every right to attack you back in revenge. The other tribes would then leave me be or at worse, take my side against you because you were the aggressor not me.

Yes, it is a low down dishonourable sneaky thing to do, but all’s fair in love and war. But now my tribe has everything your tribe once had and my tribe is now more powerful and power is addictive.

I want more land etc. but I am still not strong enough to fight the two much stronger tribes. How do I achieve this….easy I would pull a similar stunt on them too, first spreading a few whispered rumours of betrayal to both of them. I would set the stage to make it look as one of them attacked the other. Not before I had sworn allegiance to both sides, telling them not to tell the other about our secret pact.

Then my loyal men would repeat what they did last time and war would break out between the two stronger tribes, causing each to think the other is to blame because they do not know what is really going on.

However, I would not honour any of the secret pacts I made to side with them against the other. That was the illusion of friendship and loyalty. I would wait until one tribe defeated the other. The victor would now be spent, exhausted and short of their finest warriors. That’s when I would attack what is left them and the entire kingdom is mine.

Should any on the other hand, of the powerful tribes outside the kingdom who were on friendly trading terms with the slain tribes begin asking for an explanation of why I attacked. I would show them my relevant secret pact to show I was avenging their friendly tribe. In other words, I am on their side too because I executed their revenge. And the process starts again until I have everything and no one can stand in my way or against my tribe.

War is dirty but that’s war. It’s said the strongest survive. But so do the most cunning. That is why we say ‘The Mists of War’. It means the real truth of what happened has been obscured.

Does this compare with what you are seeing now in the modern world?

So that is why I am so different!

Beyond the Pale: the Rh Neg blood type mystery

Of the human blood types, O is the most common. It is a universal blood type. Blood types are further broken down into two groups, negative and positive. This is called the RH factor. The RH factor is the Rhesus (rhesus as in monkey) blood factor. If your blood tests positive for this, you have the factor in your blood. If you test negative, you do not have the factor in your blood. The RH factor is a protein found in the human blood that is directly linked to the Rhesus Monkey.
When blood type is inherited from your parents, it is known that this factor element of the blood is the most consistent human or animal characteristic passed on to the off spring. There are VERY few aberrations. It rarely changes.
Most people, about 85%, have RH-positive blood. That could support the idea that humans evolved or were derived from Primates. 15 % of humans have RH-negative blood. If blood type is one of least mutable human characteristic, where did the RH negative come from? This question has puzzled scientists for years. There is some evidence that suggests the RH-negative blood group may have appeared about 35,000 years ago. And the appearance was regional and seemed to, originally, be connected with certain groups/tribes of people.
Northern Spain and Southern France is where you can find some of the highest concentration of the RH-negative factor in the Basque people. Another original group were the Eastern/Oriental Jews. In general, about 40 – 45% of Europeans have the RH-negative group. Only about 3% of African descendent and about 1% of Asian or Native American descendent has the RH-negative group. Due to the larger European numbers, it is a safe bet that was where it was introduced into the human genetic code. Could this also be where the Caucasian was introduced? Is the introduction of Caucasian related to the RH-blood factor.
If the RH-negative factor is a ‘normal’ presentation of blood, then why is there a problem when a mother of the RH-negative blood group gives birth to an RH-positive blood group baby. This Hemolytic disease, actually an allergic reaction, can cause death when the two different blood groups are mingled during pregnancy. When the antigenic substances attack the negative blood group it can destroy the blood cells. So why does the human body produce antigens to this blood type? Is the blood group alien?
The only other time this occurs in nature is, as an example, when donkeys and horses are crossed to produce mules. This is not ‘natural’ because left alone in the wild, these animals would never cross breed. Only with intervention would this happen. Was there a cross breeding of two human like beings, similar but genetically different?
People with RH-negative blood group have certain characteristics that seem to be common among the majority. Here is a brief list of the most common.
¨ Extra vertebra.
¨ Higher than average IQ
¨ More sensitive vision and other senses.
¨ Lower body temperature
¨ Higher blood pressure
¨ Increased occurrence of psychic/intuitive abilities
¨ Predominantly blue, green, or Hazel eyes
¨ Red or reddish hair
¨ Has increased sensitivity to heat and sunlight
¨ Cannot be cloned
¨ Alien Abduction and other unexplained phenomenon
So what does this mean? What can be concluded?
The appearance of RH-negative blood did not follow the usual evolutionary path. In fact, evolution would seem to be ruled out as a possible cause of the anomaly. It has been proven that blood is the least likely to mutate. There are no other blood mutations. The introduction of the RH-negative blood type was not a naturally occurring part of human evolution.
This would lend credence that the RH-negative factor was introduced from an outside source. Could the source be from human like beings from another planet? Or maybe we are just as alien as they are, in that, we are a product of their manipulation and interference. Could they have come here and manipulated life forms already present on earth to create modern man?
Many ancient texts, including, the Bible, do support this theory. Many stories in the ancient texts, especially pre-Christian texts, do tell about a race that from the Heavens to the Earth Came. And they created man in their image. Man saw them as gods, living long lives and performing miracles. Flying about in the sky ships and shooting fire and creating ear-shattering booms. The humans watched as these gods built massive and glorious houses and created beautiful cities for themselves. From mans primitive point of view, they were gods. But that was early man’s point of view.
Who were the gods? The ancient stories tell us a lot about these gods. They obviously had advanced technology capable of space travel and air travel. They knew about aviation, metallurgy, the universe, the cosmic progression, medicine and evidently genetics. They knew about atomic energy and weapons and used them. Evidence of this can be found on Earth. They knew about agriculture and how to create more nutritious grains and other food staples. All of the basic grains that humans rely on for food have been determined to have all appeared at the same time spanning roughly a 10,000 year period. A very short time, geologically speaking. And no new grain has since been developed.
Our ancient texts tell us they began to take humans for their spouses. The Bible says, and the gods looked upon woman and found her pleasant to behold and took her as their wives. They had children, many children. But not all humans were a result of interbreeding. The first human was a result of scientific research combining primates with the gods’ genes. The first humans were not a product of interbreeding. But small portions of humans are a result of this interbreeding and their blood type can support this.
In the first part of this article, I described to you what happens when two species who similar but genetically different interbreed. They produce hybrids. The example I gave was about horses, donkeys, and mules. Mules are the hybrid, the product of a union between a horse and a donkey. However, mules are born sterile because there is no genetic relationship between the horse and the donkey.
When humans were first created, they were a product of two genetically similar but not related species.
The combination of the DNA of the primates and the gods was produced ‘artificially’ in a lab. If the gods have the technology to create a new species, they would have no problem overcoming the problem of the hybrids being sterile. A little genetic manipulation and it would no longer be an issue.
Three proto types of humans were created. Each one successively more advanced. Two types by design and the last by chance. Nethaderal Man is suspected of being an early humanoid created by the gods but cro-magnon was definitely a product of their intervention. The next type is whom we call pre-human and then we have modern man. Modern man was a result of interbreeding between the gods and pre-humans. This interbreeding for the most part created no problems in the resulting offspring, except for a line that inherited, from their godly parents, the RH-negative blood type.
This is supported by the fact that these humans did not inherit the protein found in the blood that is directly linked to the Rhesus Monkey. They did not inherit it because one of their parents did not have the monkey protein. This protein is present only because combining primate DNA with DNA from the gods created the original human proto-type that carried the monkey protein.
So in conclusion, I suggest that man is a creation of a highly technological race of human like beings that From the Heavens to the Earth came. I suggest that these advanced beings are still among us today and are still very active in the affairs of man. To what end, I can only suggest.
I would love proof that having rh- blood is linked to higher rates of all the things above. I am not sure such evidence is obtainable, but it is certainly a mysterious blood type (it also poses a major problem for pregnancies).

Here’s a sciencey perspective on Rh- blood. (The interesting bit is that no solid scientific explanation exists as to how or why Rh- blood came about. It is presumed to be the result of a random mutation.)
I started researching on the Internet about my O negative blood type about seven years ago, after finding out that it was so mysterious.
Only 5 percent of the entire world were said to be Rh negative, when I first started researching it. Now, it is stated that the Rh negative factor is 15 percent of the world’s blood types. I think this may have come about due to more research that has been done in third world countries, and in areas of the world where scientist had no communications with data. The theories of the origins on the phenomena of the Rh negative blood types have been vast, strange and controversial. Some of these theories of which mostly, I truly don’t believe, but it is fodder for some bizarre coincidences, and hopefully enlightening into this mystery.
The Rh negative blood type is said to be of unknown origin. There is no one scientist that can give a single reason for its existence other than a mutation that occurred tens of thousands of years ago. I gathered a lot of pseudo, and actual details over the years of which are amusing, and contradictory to what I really think was the cause of this negative blood type factor.
The Internet had a flurry of conspiracy theorist biting at the thread of this phenomena after a website was published on Internet stating that the Rh negative blood type was proof positive that aliens do exist. I actually don’t believe it is, however, it is speculated to be so, because there is no known reason for it other than a mutation.
Some theories are that it was gene manipulation by the ancient gods. One was the Enki a godlike scientist, possibly alien. This theory was written by a scientist after reading the Sumerian texts.
Another strange phenomena was references to this blood type factor in science fictions movies, such as ‘Invasion” where a woman with Ab negative blood was supposed to have been a natural host of the newly arriving aliens. Other, movies claim this blood type as alien in many Sci fi movies, and television shows as well.
I read where Internet sites were claiming that the head director of MUFON was fired for putting the statement out that the Rh negative blood type was from alien sources.
One site on-line claims that the Rh negative blood factor is the “Blood of the Gods”. This site was dated from the 1970’s.
Other sites claim that the Rh negative blood factor is the original blood type , the oldest blood type, which I actually emailed a genetic scientist ,and he replied that type O positive was the oldest.
I believe as the scientists do that the Rh negative factor is a mutation that occurred due to what is called a crossing over event, and the gene of the Rh positive blood factor was deleted in the Rhesus box.

200,000 Year Old Statue Found On Moon

5 May 2009

WASHINGTON, DC – A noted scientist has just produced proof that the lunar surface was inhabited by intelligent life: a 10-inch angel sculpture embedded in a moon rock.
Geologist Dr. Morris Charles revealed last week that NASA lab workers chipped the angel from one of the rocks brought to Earth by Apollo 11 astronauts 40 years ago, in 1969. Dr. Charles was a NASA scientist himself for 23 years but left the agency in 1987. He still maintains close ties to many of his former colleagues.

“The implications of this figurine are absolutely mind-boggling,” Dr. Charles told reporters. “It means that at one time the moon had an atmosphere conducive to life. And what’s more, it was once home to a sophisticated race of people with a highly refined sense of beauty.”

The angel – a humanoid female with wing-like appendages on her back and long flowing hair – is made of an iron compound found exclusively in the highlands of the moon.

This rules out the possibility that it was dropped by a race of aliens from another planet. It’s been hand polished to a silvery metallic sheen. Based on chemical analysis of the metal, geologists estimate the sculpture to be 200,000 years old which means it was made 170,000 years before the human species appeared on Earth.

It’s been examined by art experts who concur with Dr. Charles’ appraisal of the culture that produced it. “Clearly these beings had a sense of religion that parallels our Christianity. Perhaps they had a Jesus of their own, proving that the important spiritual principles are, in a very literal sense, universal,” said a Washington anthropologist.

Others are not so sure of its religious significance. Dr. Miles Fredericks of New York University countered, “This is just more Christian propaganda. The Sumerians told stories of the Annunaki, winged deities, as far back as 18th century BC. Maybe the Sumerians were visited by these moon beings, who merely modelled the statue after their own image.”

While many ponder the significance of the figure, others are curious about why it has remained a secret for so long. “The artefact has been common knowledge among NASA insiders for years,” said Dr. Charles. “But space agency higher-ups have kept the information highly classified, fearing world-wide panic. It was smuggled out to me by persons who must, for obvious reasons, remain anonymous.”

NASA officially denies Dr. Charles’ allegations. The statue was displayed to photographers and newsmen but is now being held for further study at an undisclosed location.

Astronauts of Antiquity – Zecharia Sitchin has already shown in The Twelfth Planet that the statues of gods and goddesses from Sumer present special helmets with protuberances on both sides (the Middle Ages’ illiteracy turned them into”devil horns”), which perfectly look like the pilots’ headphones; the statues were provided with the SHU.GAR.RA – a term that literally means”that which makes you go far into the Universe”.

Another image discovered in North Israel, dating back to the ninth millennium B.C., represents the sculpted head of a god with a helmet and safety glasses. Also a picture of the goddess Ishtar from her temple in Sumer…
All this suggests to us that the attire …was that of an aeronaut or an astronaut”…

Many drawings on the Sumerian plates show the gods with wings, which were not belonging to the body, but they were accessories of the flight suit, therefore the gods looked like eagles…
This drawing on a Sumerian plate suggests that an Anunnaki / Elohim spaceship is connected to the base on Earth.”The central object … it is more mechanical, more manufactured than natural. Its (( wings )) looks almost exactly like the solar panels which American spacecraft are provided to convert the Sun’s energy to electricity. The two antennas cannot be mistaken. The circular craft … is located between Mars (the six – pointed star) and Earth and its Moon”(Z. Sitchin, The Twelfth Planet)…
