Eat Right for Great Hair

Eating a good selection of the right foods is the best and healthiest option for a good head of hair, your body will benefit too. The foods listed below are packed with the vital ingredients needed for good hair health. Enjoy eating them.

These lovely foods are good for your hair as well as being an excellent choice for your body’s health too.



Avocado:  avocado provides a healthy supply of vitamin E

Apricots: provide important Vitamin A which keeps the scalp healthy

Beef, lamb, and oysters: provide zinc, which boosts hair health

Broccoli, spinach, and chard:  are full of vitamins A and C, used by the body to produce sebum, the secretion on your scalp that is your hairs natural conditioner. These vegetables also provide important iron and calcium

Cauliflower and cabbage:  provide silica, a mineral that protects and prevents hair loss and breakage

Carrots, squash, and sweet potatoes: provide vitamin A which helps to keep your scalp healthy.

Chicken and turkey: are a good a source of protein and iron.

Eggs: Eggs are also rich in protein; a good source of vitamin B-12 and biotin.

Flaxseed: provide beneficial Omega 3’s.  Add ground flaxseed to cereal to boost your consumption

Lentils and kidney beans: Legumes supply the protein your hair needs for growth; in addition, they provide iron, zinc, and the B vitamin biotin.

Milk, yogurt, and cheese: Dairy products are sources of calcium and protein.

Nuts: Cashews, pecans, and almonds are full of zinc. Walnuts contain zinc and alpha-linoleic acid. Brazil nuts provide the mineral selenium, which helps to keep your scalp healthy. Nuts contain B vitamins as well.

Olive oil: contains beneficial vitamin E

Onion and garlic: contain bioflavonoids which is beneficial for hair

Oranges and grapefruit: All the citrus fruits are good sources of vitamin C, which helps to absorb iron.

Salmon:  is a good source of protein. Oily fish like salmon contains beneficial omega-3 fatty acids that can help prevent a dry scalp, as well as vitamin B-12 and iron.

Sunflower seeds: good snack foods and loaded with the B vitamins, which are beneficial for the hair

Water: Drink plenty of water to keep your hair and your body properly hydrated.

Whole grains: Whole grains contain B vitamins, iron, and zinc. Good choices are whole-grain products. Other good whole-grain sources are oatmeal, brown or wild rice, buckwheat

 A balanced diet that’s focused on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat dairy foods is a great choice for the health of both your body and your hair.
